The Stein Bier Keller has been open for a few months now, but i would still call it a new bar. It used to be Blue, and before that Julies 2.
They have made the place smaller, and changed the layout completly. It has more of a diner feel to the place, with the tables and chairs round the outside at the windows, with space for a dancefloor. It has regular live music and a DJ on Saturday nights.
When i went in i have to say it was a big change. I went up to the bar, and they didnt seem to sell anything i have heard of! Well i say that, they did have Duvel, but i didnt want one of those. Another bar selling 1 brand of cheap vodka, and other cheap spirits. I settled for a Desperados and i dont know why, because it tasted horrible!
The bar was ok, and the staff were friendly but it was a bit empty. The rest of the bars were jam packed, so it wasnt a quiet night. The biggest problem was the drinks selection, it just didnt seem to have many. I think its fair enough to sell world beers, but if you do you should offer some familiar names aswell, Corona, Budweizer, Miller or whatever.
The music was good, so that was a plus point
Since its a German themed kind of place i would of loved to have heard German pop, but that was never gonna happen
It would of been cool though

Almost laughably bad, dismal, a triumph of hype over honesty.
Let’s start with the basics – it’s not a beer keller, it looks nothing like a beer keller. It’s straight out of the old Ultimate Leisure style guide with a couple of walls covered with mountain wallpaper. I don t know any ‘beer kellers’ which offer Carling [the world's only combined beer and disinfectant] on tap. As to the rest of the taps, apart from the usual fruit beers there’s Budvar [not the original Budweiser, despite what you'll be told], Erdinger and three varieties of Grolsch – one assumes their prominence is entirely unconnected with their name appearing on almost every paper surface in the building [apart from the bog roll, where it might be most appropriate].

this was just a copy and paste job from a site. if you have comments make them, dont copy/paste huge amounts of text from a website.

I have been to your website and to be fair, you have nothing good to say about any place you go. Maybe you should drink in the house? You could then review that, which would probably get bad reviews like the rest
This was a great bar, but since the guy who set is all up left, Mr Wilde – the place has gone to the wall. Aweful staff, rude and there seems to be a strong ‘undesirable’ element frequenting this bar. Some really shady characters in this place, which seems emplty most of the time. Shame as it seemed like an brilliant idea.
Newcastle VIP, I do have good things to say about some pubs, though not many. The point, to an extent is [as pointed out by Mark of the much missed Burglars Dog] to take ‘ the guesswork out of planning a night out in Newcastle by concentrating on the places you really don’t want to go’ .
Parts of the site are not intended to be wholly serious, but… I think that my comments on Stein seem to be confirmed at least in part by Al Munch. Had Stein done ‘what it said on the tin’ I can assure you I d have praised it from the rooftops.
Stein is dead and buried now. when you gonna come back and blog admin? Any thoughts on Geordie Shore!?
haha is it?
I am sorry, I am a bit too busy with other projects and concentrating on them, this site will remain up tho.
I may look for other people to write on Newcastle VIP
