Tokyo Bar Newcastle Review
Posted by Michael on July 13, 2009Tokyo Bar is a upper class trendy style bar in Newcastle. It is located on Westage road, nearby Destination and Revolution.
It is quite an expensive bar, selling a big range of cocktails aswell as more traditional beers. It gets very busy at a weekend, and has been known as a pre-club bar for clubs such as Digital.
Inside the decor is stylish, with comfortable seating downstairs in the main bar. Upstairs there is more comfortable seating with one of the best bar terraces in Newcastle. If you are a smoker you will love this. It is heated so you will always be warm in the winter; In the summer you can drink in the sun on the terrace while chillin’ on the sofas.
Clientele is mid/upper class, as it is known as an expensive kind of place however also attracts uni students. Dress code is smart/casual, you probably wont get in here if you are in fancy dress or on a hen/stag night. No charvas, which is always a good thing. Once again there are pretentious idiots in this kind of place, but that goes with the label of being a posh place.
Music is played at weekends, typically it is Funky House as it is with most of these styles of bars.
Tokyo is an OK bar now and again, but i would not go there reguarly. It gets very busy and is not the biggest place, its not a selling point for this style of bar to be this busy; Its quite a chill out place, but you cant do that when people are fighting their way past you every few seconds.
