Mushroom Bar
Popword Newcastle and the Charva Night Out
Posted by NewcastleVIP on November 6, 2009I was out last week with a few people and since we get sick of going to the same old places from time to time we decided to mix it up and hit some of the charva bars.
We went into Popworld, located next to Blu Bambu, which i havent been in since a bank holiday…What a Shithole!!! The music was terrible! I was expecting some 90s dance songs aka The Real Mccoy, Livin Joy and so on, which would of been fun; Instead it was some kind of terrible comedy/trash pop, sort of like pikie irish pop, it is really hard to explain.
And the crowd…WOW! It really was like stepping into another world. There was a mix of what you would expect, very young and very old. But all wearing the same things, which was chequed shirts and so on…I thought the bar was supposed to be a 90s theme place, but the people in the place actually thought it was still the 90s.
I wouldnt go back, for a charva place this is scraping the bottom. Boom which is further up the town towards the Gate is a far better place to go, with better music and a better crowd (for a charva place) or Mushroom; But amazingly Popworld was so busy, you couldnt get moved in the place.
Mushroom Bar Newcastle
Posted by NewcastleVIP on June 30, 2009Mushroom bar is another one of Newcastle’s “trebles bars”. You can get a treble for only £1.95, be aware this doesnt include a mixer and you have to purchase one. They do sell bottles of wine, but you wont find many people drinking that at this bar. It is more of a party style bar, with a dancefloor which is quite small, and modern decor. The bar streches all the way along the back wall and there are many drinks available including draught beer and bottles.
The music on offer is everything from chart to old skool pop, it is open until 1AM at weekends. If you dont want to dance there are lots of seating areas or standing room, but as mentioned this place does get packed at weekends so be prepered to be standing shoulder to shoulder with people.
This place gets packed at weekends, if you like this kind of stuff you will like it here. Most the crowd is younger people, 18-22 year olds come here and it is not too far from the bigg market.
The Mushroom bar is a typical music bar, which offers cheap drinks, and offers everything you would expect.
If you want to go you will need to set your GPS to:
