Hooooooooooooooooooooo!

I cant believe I missed this. DJ Jaguar Skills was at Tup Tup Palace last night. He is such a good mashup DJ, one of the most original DJs around and I love his style.

If you arent familar with his work and missed out him probably blowing the roof off Tup Tup, check out his mixes, and you will be there the next time :D

I guess Tup Tup now let ninjas into the building ;)

Perdu – Or Maybe Perdont?

Wow I have not written about the nightlife in Newcastle for such a long time. Been far to busy with other things. Anyway, I was out in Newcastle last night…….

It was a good night for the most part, at around 11pm we decided that we would like to spend our hard earned money in Perdu. There was five of us, and got told “no groups”. Thats very strange, because earlier in the night we walked past and saw4-5 girls go straight in. There wasnt even a queue, so I would assume it wasnt very busy by the time we got there.

Its yet another nail in the coffin of Perdu. When I write about it I always seem to have such negative things to say, who can forget the incident with the man getting glassed, it even made the papers. Their door policy is one of the most strange in the town, they have taken the mantle of a certain nightclub *cough Bambu* for not letting people in for no real reason. I have been in the queue for Perdu on occasions where I have had the honor of being one of the chosen few to get in, and people in front being turned away for no reason.

If we were 18yr old charvas then I would understand, but as a respectable 26yr old with money in my pocket I do find it strange that these bars will let you in one week, and not the next.

Floritas, Baby Lynch and Bijoux did not seem to have any problems letting us in, and they were all full with happy people having a good time. Probably not the same story at Perdont.

The moral of the story? If you have no friends and go out alone go to Perdu, you will be with 100 other people who have to go alone because they dont welcome people with friends.

I have to say that I have spoken to quite a few people who used to like Perdu, but with their unwelcoming attitude they have gone to the other bars on the Diamond Strip and not returned to Perdu.

Stein Bier Keller – Newcastle Quayside

The Stein Bier Keller has been open for a few months now, but i would still call it a new bar. It used to be Blue, and before that Julies 2.

They have made the place smaller, and changed the layout completly. It has more of a diner feel to the place, with the tables and chairs round the outside at the windows, with space for a dancefloor. It has regular live music and a DJ on Saturday nights.

When i went in i have to say it was a big change. I went up to the bar, and they didnt seem to sell anything i have heard of! Well i say that, they did have Duvel, but i didnt want one of those. Another bar selling 1 brand of cheap vodka, and other cheap spirits. I settled for a Desperados and i dont know why, because it tasted horrible!

The bar was ok, and the staff were friendly but it was a bit empty. The rest of the bars were jam packed, so it wasnt a quiet night. The biggest problem was the drinks selection, it just didnt seem to have many. I think its fair enough to sell world beers, but if you do you should offer some familiar names aswell, Corona, Budweizer, Miller or whatever.

The music was good, so that was a plus point :) Since its a German themed kind of place i would of loved to have heard German pop, but that was never gonna happen :D It would of been cool though :P
