The Cut – Newcastle’s Next Night Spot
Posted by NewcastleVIP on October 29, 2009Another new place for you to drink in the centre of Newcastle is now open. The Cut is a club with what they are calling a “distressed style”, which basically means it looks like most the interior is not finished. They claim the inspirations came from:
70′s lower east side manhattan loft party
80′s east berlin squat party
90′s fenham house party
Well i have been to many 90s Fenham house parties, and they are mental, (fights, dancing on coffee tables etc.) and nothing i would imagine a loft party in the lowest manhatten east side was in the 70s.
The Cut is found next to Tup Tup, and is owned by the same people as the Palace. Their style might be to bring back the retro, but i am guessing their prices wont be. Entry is expected to be around £4-5 depending on the night, which isnt bad really.
They have some cool tables which are sunken into the floor…This may turn into a bad idea, i can see some drunken people falling into them now
Ohso Bar Newcastle’s new venue
Posted by NewcastleVIP on October 29, 2009Its coming up to the Christmas season, and in Newcastle we have a few new nights and venues for you to party the night away. With a new take of students for this year we have seen there be lots of new events in Newcastle, there is basically a different event for every night of the week, then loads of different parties at the weekends.
A new venue at the bottom of the Groat market is here, and its called Ohso. It is spread over 2 floors with a VIP area, a smoking area and classy seating areas.
This looks like another “trendy” bar in Newcastle, which is a good thing. It gives us more choice when going to a nice place for a drink. Time will tell to see if this place is any good and can compete with its competition on the Diamond Strip.
Empress – Most under-rated bar in the town?
Posted by NewcastleVIP on October 26, 2009I have not wrote anything about the Empress here, and i do not know of many people who go. It isnt seen as a “cool” bar like some bars such as the ones on the Diamond Strip, but it is a cool place to be.
The bar sells a good range of drinks, they have some cool tables at the back which are screens with graphics on them, and there are a few nice sofas to sit on.
The best thing i love about this place is THE BUTTON!!! Yeah, it has a special offers button on, on a Saturday night. It is the only place i know of which does this, and i think it is a good idea. You have the chance of getting half price drinks, a free shot and more. Other places do similar offers, but never on a Saturday night. I hope they keep this on, and its not just to get a few heads in the place for a few weeks; because if they removed this, they would definatly get far less people…its the bar’s selling point, without it you are left with a bar like the rest.
The Sports Bar – Its Coming back!
Posted by NewcastleVIP on October 26, 2009Do you remember The Sports Bar? The bar down westgate hill road, which was a huge venue on 3 floors. It had a club at the basement, a bar on the ground floor and pool tables on the top floor. Well i heard somewhere JD Wetherspoons have bought the place, and when i went past last week work had already started on it.
So we will be in for yet another bar in Newcastle, since its owned by Wetherspoons i imagine it will be another ‘cheap bar’, probably the same as what The Keel Row in the gate is. It is a big space so they can do alot with it, lets hope they make something worth going to
