Newcastle VS Stockholm Nightclubs
Posted by Michael on April 28, 2009Ok, you have probably seen the video or one similar, its been doing the rounds on the internet for soooo long!!! Some people actually take this seriously, both local people in Newcastle and people from outside the area. Its a joke!
You cannot compare the 2 things featured in it. The Newcastle pics are taken from the scummiest charva place in Newcastle, and still i bet they had to hunt for those pics…On the flip side, the Stockholm pics are taken from top clubs, VIP lounges and most of the girls featured are models/z listers on par with Gemma Atkinson or Jodie Marsh. Its like comparing Manchester United with a 3rd Division team in Sweden; They both play football…..
Stockholm has some top clubs such as Ambassadeur, Laroy and Sturecompagniet to name a few, we all know about Swedish Girls too
Newcastle is critically acclaimed as one of the top nights out in the world…With super clubs such as Digital boasting the best sound system in Europe; The worlds best music acts come to Newcastle including Swedish House Mafia (Axwell, Prydz, Ingrosso, Angello) who have said in many interviews the UK music scene is far better than in Sweden. We have had Hed Kandi here for years (its only recently gone to Stockholm) We have many other music events i could list forever….
Bouncers and Door staff in Newcastle Bars
Posted by Michael on April 28, 2009Some things i get asked in emails from people outside Newcastle visiting is the bar policies and door staff aka bouncers aka door supervisors aka the people who will spoil your night for no reason.
Some, probably most door staff and bar policies are fine, if you are used to the bars and know the types they are e.g. dress codes then you probably wont have many problems. Some on the other hand are a different story. Getting into a place depends on many things, some bars are just twats, some wont let groups in, some are more funny if you are drunk or if you are young.
Some of the things bouncers have said to the visitors here, me or my friends are:
“Sorry not the night lads” -why? (no response)
“I cant let you in, you’re shaking, i think you have been taking narcotics” (in the middle of the winter when wearing a short sleeve shirt)
“Sorry not tonight” – Why? “you’re dressed like a cunt” (Blu Bambu, thanks to a visitor for letting us know this one!)
“No Trainers/White Shoes/other clothing”
“Sorry its a 21″
“Sorry, no rockports” (and a girl walks past wearing rockport boots
“Sorry no —insert any brand name here—”
“I Think you’re drunk, can you say the alphabet backwards….”
Just a small selection of what you have sent in or what i have heard over the years
The most notorious places in Newcastle for not letting people in for no reason without a doubt is Blu Bambu. I am amazed they have any visitors left (although its getting less and less) since they seem to reject people for no reason; and if you do get in i think you will be disapointed. They have been riding the wave of success for a while, however that wave is slowly crashing down on themselves as people go to other, better clubs. Other places, like Liquid Envy, will check you for tatoos. Perdu, Revolution and Floritas also get picky at times, for no reason at all other than they can be….They dont really understand that its seen as a major offence not letting customers in who have chosen to spend their money in their place, but they soon learn this when the queues disapear almost faster than their profits…Apartment was rebranded as Floritas and their main selling point was “there is no VIP, everyone is welcome”…At least they did learn a valuable lesson.

Woman Raped in Blu Bambu Newcastle Toilet
Posted by Michael on April 28, 2009A Woman was raped earlier this month in a cubicle of the Blu Bambu Toilets in the notorious Bigg Market area of Newcastle.
The attack happened between 23:30 and 01:50 On 8th & 9th April (Weds & Thurs).
The 19 year old woman was on the way to the toilets when she was approached by a man who is described as being black, spoke broken english in his late 30s.

Kings Of Lyon – Linekers Bar Newcastle
Posted by Michael on April 28, 2009No, That’s not a typo. The Kings of Lyon are on this Wednesday night (tomorrow) at Linekers bar.
I guess you realise by they name, they are a Kings of Leon tribute band. Surely MR Lineker could put up some money for the real thing? I thought tribute acts were for old bands, not current ones?
I rather see a washed up pop star than pop idol covers…..I dont think Cleopatra are upto much tomorrow night
There are still ”a few” tickets available, a credit crunching £4 or £6 on the door. You could listen to them for free on their myspace page here.
Hed Kandi Tup Tup Palace BH Monday

This time round brings Hed Kandi to Tup Tup Palace, which will be there on Sunday 3rd May. Doors open at 22.00 and they will keep you dancing to Funky House until 3am!
Probably the best Sunday nights entertainment in Newcastle….Unless i find something better
Sam Jacks Bar Biggest and Busiest in Newcastle?
Posted by Michael on April 23, 2009Sam Jacks are now billing themselves as the “biggest and busiest bar in Newcastle”…Are they? Their Facebook seems to claim they get 13,000 through their door on a Saturday night, which means thats about 2,000 an hour. I dont think i have seen that many people in the place at one time, i dont think it could even hold that many!
The greatest thing which it has had was B*Witched performed for St. Paddys Day…I wish i was there for that one
If it is such a good place they should definatly get a later licence, it currently closes at 1am on a Friday and 1.30am on Saturdays.
One of the reasons we stopped going here was because the drinks were too expensive for the quality of the place, there are much cheaper alternatives within spitting distance; And the choice on offer wasnt too good, unbranded vodkas, cheaper alcopops to save them a few pennies, i hope its changed for the next time i go!
Good for the Music and girl dancers they have on….Girls, Music and Beer; What more do you want!
Newcastle Bar Map
Posted by Michael on April 23, 2009I have added a Newcastle Bar map to the site. All the usual suspects of bars are there around the area, i have not added the quayside yet.
This will help the people outside of Newcastle who have no idea where the bars are. Just click the blue markers to find out which bar is which
You can get to the bar map by clicking “Bar Map” in the top menu, or click here
This is just a trial map to see how it goes, if you like it i will keep it and add to it so let me know
Blu Bambu Newcastle Dirty Sanchez
Posted by Michael on April 23, 2009Blu Bambu must have ran out of ways to make a good nightclub a good nightclub, because they are now plugging their latest thing on at their club. Dirty Sanchez will be “live on stage” doing, well i have no idea. If you dont know, Dirty Sanchez is a poor mans jackass….I thought all that was over with now anyway? If Nitro Circus is anything to go by, that kind of stuff is gone!
Yeah Jackass was funny, but that was a long time ago and its had its day.
Stuff like that could be good in the right place…A Nightclub, well i dont think so. The person who books the talent people for Blu Bambu needs to think about their career i think.
How about getting a headline DJ? A good (current) act? I dont think Lady Gaga will be queuing to get a gig in this place.
I hope the Dirty Sanchez boys can get past the door staff, “sorry lads, no groups and you cant get in wearing those rockports you charva!!!”
