Blu Bambu, is probably one of the best places as night outs go in the Bigg Market…..That makes you think, it must be good right? Wrong! It doesnt have much up against it in that area, but as Newcastle goes, it certainly is not a good place to go!

One For the Kids
I heard they do some under-18 nights…Well a normal night in there isnt much more mature. Its filled with kids, it attracts the 18-20 year olds from the Bigg Market area, yet it tries to get away from the “charva” persona by not letting in people for no reason. I have heard from someone on another forum that they didnt get let in because “They were dressed like a cunt”. This is why Blu Bambu has the most notorious door staff in Newcastle. Their policy is non existat, some nights you will get in, others you wont. Once inside it doesnt get much better, your money would be better spent going elsewhere unless you like mixing it with kids.

The actual layout of the place is good. There is a Danceflloor downstairs in the centre, with places to stand around it, upstairs there are booths. The music varies, some great party choons dropped by the DJ, to some trash being played.

As mentioned the clientele is very, very young. Blu Bambu is the new king of “cheese” when it comes to nightclubs, taking the crown from the old Baja Beach club days. It has no flair, creativity or culture. It is a boring place on most nights, and completly geared up for Students. Strange, as i believe its still £7 entry.

I am amazed this still seems to get people in at the weekend, i would have thought it would have died a long time ago.

I Heard this on the radio and i have seen it a few times on the Tv now. Its a great summer choon, its been around since last year but has finally got a commercial release this time round

I like Floritas Bar which is on Collingwood Street in Newcastle aka “The Diamond Strip” but we would like to know what makes it a “Miami Bar“? It doesnt really scream out Summer, but then again it is a bit cold in March still. I was in the V.I.P section a few weeks ago and it was nice. Not much has changed since it was the Apartment down there from what i remember, but it is cool, it has a laid back atmosphere, with nice sofas. There was a hostest/girl on the door who seemed to be doing evrything! on the door, waitress and more. She looked like a genuine person and was dressed amazing in a white dress, every bar should have someone like this rather than a girl going round trying to get you to buy shots or sell you something.

The crowd is a real big mix of people and ages, from very young to errr ‘old’ haha When the place gets busy it can sometimes take a while to get served, and the prices are the standard for this kind of bar in the area.

It has tried to get away from the old “exclusive-ness” which it had before and clearly didnt work well, although it was a nice idea.

We were in Mood Bar @ The Gate a few weeks back, on a Friday night. Fridays are never as busy as a Saturday, but it seems for Mood that its getting worse and worse as the nights go by.

A few years ago it was great, the place was packed, queue to get in, good atmosphere, an all round good bar. Since then, it has got worse and worse, going ever so slightly down hill with each weekend that passes. Fast forward to March 2009, and the place looked empty. The downstairs in Mood is quite a big space, so when its not full it really makes the place look empty.

Going up the stiars to the RnB club it looks busier than downstairs, but it is much quieter than it once was. I remember going when they had a doorman on the stairs, only allowing a certain number of people to go up as it was packed. These days there is no doorman on the stairs, as there is no need for one. The RnB room plays more or less the same drab tunes, they really need a good DJ up there to play some fresh music aswell as classics and club bangers. Instead they have someone with a laptop uninspired playing the same old commercial radio edits, you might aswell stay at home.

So where have the mood people gone to? Will Mood get better or worse?

So were out on Friday night, in the central station area and decided we would go to Centurion Bar, we dont go there too often so it would make a nice change. However i cant say if it was or not as my friend did not pass the doorman’s test.

We headed for the place early on, after only 1 drink in Union Rooms. My friend, who is partially sighted, was stopped by the bouncer as he “was drunk”.  Its amazing to think that a person can be drunk after 1 drink, thats because he wasnt.

The doorman decided that the best way to tell if he was drunk or not was to ask him to say the alphabet backwards. I didnt realise that learning the alphabet backwards means you are not drunk, and if you havent took the time to learn it you are drunk…I wish i had of known this when i was 17!!!

I’m off now to learn the alphabet backwards, caio! :p

I was on the Wikipedia page of Duffy a few weeks ago, and someone changed it! For a while it read “Duffy if covered in Beans covered in beans”

I found it funny. Wikipedia is edited by anyone, so we have to assume she may not have been covered in beans
